The construction of Bolig Værkstedet in Jernbanebyen is advancing at full speed!
With the #BoligVærkstedet project, EFFEKT, Enemærke & Petersen, MOE Denmark and VELUX are building seven buildings that will showcase how to build quality home with a very low CO2 emission and improved indoor climate to inspire and test in practice how building construction can actively address climate challenges.
The two houses and five pavilions have been raised in less than two months, thanks to new techniques and the optimization of prefabrication methods.
"BoligVærkstedet is a prototype for the Levesteder concept; where we gather experience and learning, both positive as well as negative, which we share with the industry and stakeholders. We want to drive a development towards sustainable construction that is scalable for the entire sector, both in terms of processes and solutions and which can be used in construction on a larger scale", says Lone Feifer, Program Director for Sustainable Construction, VELUX Group.
The installation in the Jernbanebyen district of Copenhagen will be an effective testing ground – the two houses are identical in size and floor plan configuration and distribution, but one will be built in CLT structure, while the other with a timber frame, in order to test and compare material efficiency, prefabrication process, construction speed and cost.
Only a few weeks into construction, the project celebrates the top-out milestone today, with completion scheduled for January. BoligVærkstedet will be launched in the spring of 2023 as a partner project for Copenhagen's UNESCO World Capital of Architecture 2023.
