EFFEKT designs new masterplan for former hospital area in Herning
Yesterday, Herning Municipality unveiled the masterplan for a new urban neighbourhood in the centre of Herning, Denmark. The neighbourhood is called Herning+ and is a transformation of a former hospital area in the heart of the city. The name reflects one of the central elements of the plan; a new social infrastructure created by two intersecting road connections through the area, almost forming a perfect plus. The ‘plus’ will be the new central urban space in the neighbourhood, connecting the new neighbourhood to the surrounding city and uniting four new smaller areas created by the plus.
