Children's Living Places in Ukraine
We are immensely proud to contribute to Denmark's efforts in supporting Ukraine's reconstruction through the Children’s Living Places project, one of the largest Danish humanitarian initiatives in Ukraine. The conflict in Ukraine has inflicted severe hardship on its 7.5 million children, leaving many without parental care or safe shelter.
In collaboration with SOS Children's Villages Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities, municipalities, and various partners including the VELUX Group, SOS Children’s Villages Denmark (SOS Børnebyerne) is embarking on an initiative to establish three clusters of low-carbon buildings aimed at providing psychological rehabilitation for children lacking parental care throughout Ukraine.
These buildings, developed in accordance with the Living Places concept by the VELUX Group, EFFEKT architects, and Artelia engineers, will include residences for foster families, shared recreational and social spaces for residents and local communities, as well as social centers offering a range of psychosocial support services for local families.
Over the weekend, Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, visited Living Places Copenhagen to experience the homes firsthand, in the company of the Danish minister of Industry, Morten Bødskov, Mads Klæstrup Kristensen from SOS Childrens villages Denmark, and Lone Feifer and Lars Petersson from VELUX. We are eagerly anticipating the realization of our adaptations of these homes in three pilot locations across Ukraine.
