How can we improve neighbourhoods for both nature and people?
Cities have an increasingly important role to play in the conservation and restoration of biodiversity. This is especially evident when large neighbourhoods face transformation, creating opportunities for redefining the way nature and humans coexist and evolve together.
Addressing these themes, the “Growing a Neighborhood” installation at the Oslo Architecture Triennale showcases the winning proposal for the Frederiksberg Hospital area in Denmark, developed by EFFEKT and Arkitema in 2022 for Frederiksberg Municipality.
With the Frederiksberg Hospital, the relocation of healthcare functions prompted the team to reimagine the 14 ha hospital ground - one of the last large sites available in the city - making room for urban life within a mix of historical buildings and century-old vegetation.
If you are in Oslo, don´t miss it! The exhibition runs until October 30th at the former Edward Munch Museum.
