EFFEKT with BARK win tender to develop strategic tourism masterplan for the South Coast of Denmark
Lolland Municipality has defined a strategic goal of investigating the tourism potential on the south coast of Denmark in relation to the future road connection to Germany.
EFFEKT with BARK has won the tender to lead this investigation through a strategic master plan for the south coast.
The purpose of the project is to make Lolland more attractive to tourists. Both by improving the tourism products, such as events, package-deals, and the value-chains in general, but also by creating business-oriented activities that can attract investment and increase accommodation capacity in the area.
The efforts will require strengthened cooperation between public and private actors on Lolland. An essential part of the project is therefore to develop and create a framework and a breeding ground for this collaboration.
Background
With the Planning and Development Strategy, Lolland Municipality has politically decided that tourism is one of the municipality's central focus areas. An area that must be considered an activity with significant potential to create growth and development in the municipality.
In order to target the municipality's tourism efforts, a massive data collection has been carried out in recent years among the local tourism actors and the tourism industry. The results are compiled in the Potential Plan for Lolland's South Coast "All of Denmark's South Coast".
Within this framework, the project ‘The realization of the tourism potential on the entire south coast of Denmark’ is the first step in the realization of the Potential Plan.
The activities of the project
Meetings and dialogue will be held with the holiday homeowners on the entire South Coast of Denmark in collaboration with the Holiday Home Owners' industry association and local rental agencies. The purpose is to highlight the possibilities for rental, present business cases when renting, and create awareness of the need to expand the accommodation capacity.
Workshops will be held with landowners, tourist actors, associations, and teams to uncover ideas and initiatives relevant to the development of tourism on the South coast. Workshops also help to create a framework and opportunities for collaboration on events, package offers, and marketing.
Development of the dissemination of the South Lolland dike with tourism promotion in mind in collaboration with relevant actors.
Facilitation of stakeholder networks on local events and development of tourism themes in collaboration with relevant organizations within the area (eg Lolland Tourist Board and Business Lolland-Falster).
Interdisciplinary dissemination of existing initiatives and projects in order to increase awareness and create added value and new relationships between existing projects.
