Urban Village Project at COP26
At COP26 the future fate of millions of people is being decided. At the moment it is a death sentence. The short-term targets set by participating countries still lead us to a disastrous 2.4 C global temperature increase by the end of the century. This will dramatically change life on Earth for all species. Change will definitely not be led by our politicians!
Fortunately, a series of responsible global companies are constantly accelerating their individual target and ambitions to combat climate change. We are proud to work alongside these to help keep pushing this agenda!
'Simple' things like building flexible buildings, that can adapt to new use over time, and that are built from renewable, circular, and biodegradable materials like wood will no doubt be low-hanging fruit in making a fast transition towards solutions that are within planetary boundaries.
The Urban Village Project is a vision for this type of construction and we are very proud to see this exhibited at the IKEA pop up exhibition in The New York Times Climate HUB. The project is the product of a long-term collaboration with SPACE10 and IKEA and an example of what you can achieve in the right kind of partnerships and collaborations. Hopefully, on a forum like COP26 exhibitions like this can inspire and influence decision-makers to higher their collective ambitions for our shared future!
