Both Gellerup Park and the Forest Tower are nominated for the prestigious European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2022, awarded every two years to acknowledge and reward outstanding architecture in Europe.
The Prize is in recognition of conceptual, technical and constructional qualities within architectural production, and candidates for the Award are put forward by a broad group of independent experts from all over Europe, as well as from the architects’ associations that form part of the European Council of Architects and other European national architects’ associations.
Designed in collaboration with SLA, Gellerup Park is a landscape project that transformed the green spaces of the modernist area on the outskirts of Aarhus into an active natural space that contributes positively to the great and ambitious transformation the area is undergoing, from a socially challenged neighborhood into an attractive and integrated part of Aarhus.
The iconic Forest Tower at Camp Adventure was designed by EFFEKT and inaugurated in the spring of 2019. The 45 m-tall observation structure drew attention from national and international media, quickly becoming one of Denmark´s most visited and recognizable attractions.
