Tonight the mayor of Silkeborg, Steen Vindum, announced a team led by EFFEKT with Trafikplan, Colliers International, WTM Engineers GmbH, Simon Prahm and Kasper Larsen as the winners of the Silkeborg lakefront development plan.
The proposal re-connects the downtown area of Silkeborg with the lakes and introduce a new public lakefront park – home to the future Museum Jorn in the intersection of city, park and water. This is achieved largely by rearranging traffic flows and moving surface parking below ground. New facilities are added and interconnected through a new pedestrian infrastructural network. Existing gravity points in the city are refined and improved to cultivate and attract city life.
Throughout the plan natural elements from the surrounding landscape are reintroduced into the urban fabric.
