Commissioned for Healthy City neighborhood in Utrecht
As part of a large international team including architects, urban planners and landscape architects, EFFEKT will take part in the development of a new healthy and green neighborhood in the city center of Utrecht.
The new neighborhood will be designed as a sustainable and walk-able car-free area with priority to bikes and pedestrians on ground level and electrical charging stations in the parking garages below. The area will be largely dominated by green streets and a large park adjacent to the Merwede Canal. The industrial heritage will be present as reinterpretations of previous structures revitalized as communal greenhouses and visual markers in the park-scape.
The developement is led by BDP with SVP in charge of the master plan, OKRA assigned as landscape architects, ARUP as engineers and MLA+, CROSS, ANA and EFFEKT will each be responsible for their individual residential blocks and towers. In total the new neigborhood will feature 600 dwellings, commercial areas and other public functions.
