EFFEKT prequalified to participate in a competition to renovate and transform an area of 12 towers, 66 4-story apartment blocks, 8 townhouse blocks and 4 community buildings which in total contain 7.500 inhabitants in 2,900 homes and covers an area of 300,000 sqm. Completed in the period of 1968-74, the Brøndby Strand housing area is now so worn down that the owners will be investing up to 4 billion DKK in a thorough renovation. The 4 housing associations hope to get unique and realistic proposals to demonstrate new ways for energy and operational efficient solutions as an integral part of a new architectural master plan where the new architecture can interact with the landscapes and neighboring areas.
