Music Plaza
The Music Plaza is a new cultural setting for music, events, cultural life and city life in general, located in Amager, a district of Copenhagen, DK. The main idea was to create a dynamic, flexible and open public space that welcomes all users and allows for various and diverse events - an urban arena where culture, creativity and city life can unfold.
The project is designed based on existing institutions and activities in the area and has been developed through dialogues with the users, in order to create a successful and active public space.
The Music Plaza has been developed in different stages and consists of three elements: First, a unifying floor with iconic graphic pavement that connects the existing buildings and creates new stages and amphitheaters at the plaza. A new pavilion over one of the stages that creates an outdoor covered event space and becomes a landmark of the Music Plaza. Lastly, a transformation of the existing buildings generates new connections between indoor and outdoor activities.
Latest, the pavilion was completed and inaugurated in May 2016 . The pavilion has steel curtains, which makes it possible to create flexible rooms suitable for various functions and events at the plaza.
