Villa Bülowsvej
Villa Bülowsvej is designed as a urban villa for a family with 3 children in the heart of Frederiksberg, Denmark.
An understated presence on the central Bülowsvej, the villa blends in with elegant surroundings of one of Frederiksberg´s oldest residential areas.
Encased among villas dating back to the 1800s, the plot presented unique settings, with an elongated L-shaped site enriched with the presence of a preserved centenary beech tree.
The house is designed very simply, maximizing the floor plan through the use of clean, straight lines, and symmetry principles, in order to be as efficient as possible. Large openings in all indoor spaces are framing the lush surroundings, creating continuity with the exteriors by visually bringing the garden into the house. In the living room, the double height space enhances the full-width glass façade, designed to frame and highlight the presence of centenary beech tree in the garden, dynamically changing through the seasons.
Warm, simple, Nordic materials are used in the interiors to create a continuous through the house and the outdoors. Oak panels are used widely to give a warm home feeling.
Black-stained cedar wood lamellae wrap-up the exterior facades and roof, subtly integrating the windows frames and solar panels, while providing shade.
